replace the head every few months for best brushing experience
I got the two replacement heads for my Essence toothbrush --- about $23 from Amazon (Dec 08) with Subscribe and Save, free shipping. Comes up cheaper than from a store. It comes out cheaper to replace the heads than the whole toothbrush. The toothbrush won't do as a good a job if you don't replace the head every few months. Recommended.

Sonicare e-Series Replacement Brush Heads
I only ordered these Sonicare brush heads online, as I was ordering something else from Amazon anyway. You can find them locally when on sale at the same or lower price. I love the Sonicare toothbrush, but find cleaning the brushheads a real chore if you remove the head and try to clean everything up once in a while. They really should make the brushheads to have a water tight seal so you would not have to do this. This is why I gave this item a four star rating instead of five.
